When Emily Houser, a teenager from Pennsylvania, started a job at her local Chili’s restaurant at 16, she could never have expected the trouble it would bring her and that all the trouble would come from the manager Josh Davidson, who was hired at around the same time as her. The 24-year-old instantly took an interest in Emily and began to pursue her. Over a two-year period, he would turn up randomly at the girl’s house and insist she go on dates with him and send her gifts of flowers and money, persisting even when she gave them back.
This only escalated when Emily turned 18 and Josh made a very public display of his feelings. He turned up to her high school and confronted her in the school car park with more gifts. When Emily made it clear she wasn’t interested, he even stated he would be willing to give up his job for her in front of a crowd of her peers. But, even though Emily had made it clear she wasn’t interested in a relationship, Davidson continued to harass her.
“In August, the last time he showed up to my house around 2:30 in the morning, he gave me a card with hundreds of dollars in it, to which I gave it back and kind of told him to just really back off of me, because I was so obviously not interested in him and did not want to be with him.” she said. She also commented that he started acting weirdly towards her at work but she didn’t report it, hoping he would just drop it.
However, when Davidson started behaving in the same way towards another young girl, she decided enough was enough. that’s when I decided I should report the situation, because even though I came out of the situation fine, I don’t know how another young girl is going to feel.” Emily handed in her notice at Chili’s and contacted their cooperate headquarters. After an investigation, Davidson was relocated to the Chili’s in Montgomery, Pennsylvania. However, the story doesn’t end there as to Emily’s shock, on Davidson’s last day, her ex-coworkers threw a ‘Fuck Emily Houser Party’ to send him off. Complete with cake and nasty Instagram messages, the realization of what her old friends had done shook Emily to the core.
